3 Reasons to Update your Company Logo

Your company’s logo helps to identify you to your customers. It may say what your business name is and what your business is all about. However, if yours looks bland, dated or old, it may not catch the eye of your targeted customer. Here are a few of the ways you can tell when it is time to update your company logo.

It is Outdated

One of the signs that your logo should be updated is one that looks outdated. Unless you are purposefully trying to have a logo that looks retro or stuck in another era, yours should look current and modern. This includes the font, colors and graphics that are used. If your logo looks like it is stuck in another decade, it may be time to spruce it up.

It is Too Complex

Another sign that your logo may need to be updated is one that is complex or filled with too many colors. The more intricate and complex it is, the more it will cost to print. If you don’t print many materials, this may not seem like a huge deal. But as your business expands, trying to place an intricate and costly logo on your products, store fronts, and promotional items can get pricey. You may want to think about simplifying yours in this scenario.

Your Company is Expanding

The last reason why you may want to update your company logo is that your company is expanding. If you bought out another company or are expanding your product line, you may want to change it up to reflect the new direction your company is going. In this case, you may need more than a facelift of your existing one; You may need a new logo altogether.

If your logo is looking stale and dated, it may be time to update. However, while updating it from time to time is important, it is equally as important to minimize the number of times you make changes to it. Changing yours too frequently can confuse customers or cause them to lose logo recognition. Therefore, when it is time to for an update, pick something that looks great now, but will also last well into the future.
