North East Emergency Distribution (NEED) is a Northeast Tarrant County faith-based non-profit organization whose sole mission is to provide short-term emergency assistance of food, clothing and financial support to anyone in need on a non-discriminatory basis. NEED was awarded theCommunity Foundation of North Texas Tool Box Grant and we were honored to partner with them to achieve their branding and marketing goals. As a small non-profit operated almost solely by volunteers who have limited marketing expertise, our goal was to provide for them a Brand Identity and message that can be communicated throughout the organization and the community. We worked together to address who they were, what they do, and how the community can help. Communication pieces involved the logo development, collateral creation, a web presence via Facebook, and the following video. We would like to encourage you to take the time to watch the video below to get to know NEED and get involved and stay up to date with them on Facebook.

Kony 2012 Going Viral and What We Can Learn From It

Kony 2012, wow what a viral marketing sensation! This video blew up and you are going to see arguments on both sides of the equation, I think thisarticlefromFastCompanycovers this well.I'm going to stay out of all that and would like to talk on the marketing and branding side of things. What an opportunity to learn fromInvisible Children. If awareness is what they are after, I think you could say that they pretty much hit that out of the park. The news, radio, web, office discussions; this topic is everywhere.Did I know who Invisible Children and Joseph Kony was before yesterday, no; do I now?You bet! Will I take action; well I will need to gather all the information I can to make an informed decision that best reflects what I believe. We live in a world today that 'communication' is made so much easier and spreads so much faster than ever before.Peer recommendations blow through the hype that marketers tout with their products and services. We are some of their best sales people.Seth Godin, in his book,The Idea Virussays it like this: "Instead, the future belongs to marketers who establish a foundation and process where interested people can market to each other. Ignite consumer networks and then get out of the way and let them talk."And that is just what we are doing now, talking. The video on the Kony 2012 Video is very well produced; you can see the effectiveness of video as a compelling communication tool, social media and passionate people to spread the idea, and the buzz it has created filling in other media outlets. No matter what side of the fence you are on, please gather all the information you can. From all of this, I am not only more aware of this Kony 2012 Campaign, but the Invisible Children organization is now more relevant than it was just a couple of days ago.I now know their mission statement, values, and objectives. There are organizations all over the world doing great things to support their passions; this is an example of using your biggest brand ambassadors and the resources of great marketing, branding, and creativity to bring that passion and message to the forefront of mainstream media.I hope we can all learn from this and apply some of these tools to our passions and brands.

"It's not necessarily about getting someone to go out today and buy a Nature Valley granola bar," Scott Baldwin, senior marketing manager for Nature Valley, said of the project. "Supporting lifestyle causes that your customers care about is what's going to keep them loyal to you, and when they have a choice, maybe they'll choose you."

Talk about understanding your brand, product offerings, and customers. Well doneNature Valley. And now when I need to get in a nature state of mind I have something to take me there!

Mommy knows best: Real moms put AWG products to the test

We have had fun working on this project, helping develop it from the very beginning on through the execution and maintenance. You will be surprised to hear what the moms have to say. Press Release below:

Associated Wholesale Grocers (AWG) is putting its Best Choiceprivate brand products to the ultimate test. Scott Richey, Executive Director at AWG decided to go head-to-head with the national brand in a "Mommy's Choice" taste comparison. Four mothers from across the country are tasting, comparing, and deciding if Best Choice products really are, best. And every Friday these mothers will post their opinions "good or bad"onAWG's Mommy Blog.

The blog kicked off with a comparison between Best Choice and Del Montemandarin oranges. Hillary, a mommy blogger from Kansas, was first to report her family's findings: "The kids liked the taste of both brands of oranges. But the consensus was that the Best Choice brand was bigger, and therefore crowned the 'winner.' As for the adults in the house, my husband liked the looks of the Del Monte oranges, being smaller and a more vibrant color. As for me, the mom, grocery shopper, and financial manager of the household, I say the price difference of 60 cents is significant enough that the Best Choice mandarin oranges will be the oranges found in our pantry."

Although bloggers are paid for their time and given Best Choice and National Brand products for comparisons, their findings are their honest opinions based on the products' quality, value, and taste.

Peer reviews and recommendations have always been more trusted than typical advertising messages, explains Lindsey Hurr, of Immotion Studios. "In fact, recent research shows that 94 percent of consumers trust peer advertising while just 12 percent trust traditional advertising. AWG wanted to develop this blog to educate consumers about the real quality and value of their private brand products."

Associated Wholesale Grocers is one of the largest grocery wholesalers in the United States and the nation's oldest grocery cooperative. Founded in 1924 and incorporated in 1926, AWG has enjoyed over 77 years of growth and success. Its Best Choice line of products are carefully developed to be just as good or better than the national brand equivalents, for a more affordable price. Each and every product comes with a 100 percent customer satisfaction guarantee. To maintain quality assurance, all Best Choice products are tested and retested each year, giving customers consistent confidence in their choice, Best Choice. Learn more about our quality line of products by visiting: http://awgbrands.com.

If you are interested in starting a mommy blog, needing the help of a full service advertising agency, or have any questions we would love to chat. You can contact us by email: lhurr@immotionstudios.com or use our social media outlets: Facebook & Twitter

"The Fort" Screening at the Lone Star International Film Festival

(Blog Post by Video Producer Erik Clapp)Howdy Folks!Just wanted to let everyone know that my fascination/obsession for time-lapse photography has finally paid off because my short film, "The Fort" is an official selection and in competition at the Lone Star International Film Festival in Fort Worth from November 9-13th. "The Fort" is a short film composed of nothing but time-lapse photography at night of the city of Fort Worth. This was shot all at night this very hot summer, as I tried to capture the spirit and energy of Fort Worth at night. This is produced by myself and Coleman Anderson. I am very happy that the film will appear at the Lone Star fest in Fort Worth. I can't think of a better place for it to be seen first and on the big screen. "The Fort" will be playing at the AMC Palace on Thursday November 10th at 4:30 with a series of other wonderful short films selected for the festival. I am not sure if it will play at other times during the festival, but I will let you know if it does. The festival itself looks to be another great time with tons of feature film premieres from the likes of George Clooney, and Willie Nelson will be around to receive a lifetime achievement award. There is a link below to the LSIFF festival where you can see all the films playing and purchase tickets.Hope to see you there, and thank you so much for your continued support of my adventures in filmmaking! Thanks!e.

Genius. Have you seen any great packaging design lately? Share it with us on our facebook page, we'd love to hear about it!

Here is what you would be expected to do.Write one blog per month that would compare the private label to the national brand. We will supply you with a National Brand and Private Brand item(s) so that you can compare the differences. We encourage you to not always tell the entire family which brand you are serving in order to get honest feedback. Just see if they can tell the difference! Talk about the quality, taste, and value of the various items (within your packet, you will receive retail pricing information). Then submit the blog along with a photo of the National Brand and the Private Brand sitting next to each other to us and we will do the posting. So that’s all that is required, but of course we encourage you to be creative!! You can submit photos and videos of your family using the products. We would be willing to pay you $75 per blog, but we will also send you the private brand and national brand products for you and your family to test for free. We will also ask you what products you eat/use and create a calendar for what items will be sent to you monthly so that you don’t get stuck with something that the entire family just simply doesn’t like, regardless of the brand. If you live in the Springfield, MO area and are interested.

Fort Worth Time-Lapse Video, Fort Worth By Night

Ever
since Erik saw a time-lapse film in 1982 called Koyaanisqatsi by Godfrey Reggio he has loved time-lapse photography. He also loved the film Chronos in 1985 by Ron Fricke. Phillip Bloom does some amazing work (A gold standard of sorts) and
his videos can be seen all over Vimeo. Now that DSLR cameras can do that kind
of stuff at a high quality, he was determined to figure it out and get really
good at it. It's not so much a difficult process if you understand photography
really well, as it is a test of patience. A time-lapse film takes anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour to get one really
good shot. So on this Fort Worth shoot he did 3 shots in about 5 hours. There
was a mistake on one shot of the city skyline, so patience and perfection being
tested he went back Saturday night and re-did it. Doing shots with no light
changes is easier than say a sunset because you cannot touch the camera at all
once it is set. And when the light changes your exposure changes so
understanding what stop and ISO to stay on is the most difficult thing. He says
he still is not there yet, but he's learning. Erik has had quite a few questions on how he did the panning within the shot. He
wouldn't mind telling you, but he's going to leave that up to your imagination. We'll just say it's a kind of magic... We love Fort Worth and you can enjoy it
in a pretty neat way below.

Star-Telegram write up on our one and only Patty Revis

The article can be read by clicking this link here.Or, we have taken the article and posted it below:
By Scott Nishimura
snishimura@star-telegram.com
Patty Revis spent more than four years as a North Texas community relations director for jobing.com advising jobseekers on how to run their searches and root out opportunities.
So when jobing.com laid off Revis' department last July, she put her plan to work --
except for one piece of advice. Normally, she counseled jobseekers to
take a week or so off after a layoff. Revis, in need of a recharge,
ended up taking a month off before picking her search up.
Ten
months later, she landed her dream job running business development for
ADD:Immotion Studios, which operates under Marketing Management Inc., a
45-year-old Fort Worth private brand marketing firm.
It's
one she fantasized working for since she toured it while working for
the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce more than a decade earlier.
With
the aroma of fresh crescent rolls -- a product being tested that day --
wafting through the building, Revis, 47, sat down last week with the Star-Telegram to talk about her job search.
How'd you end up at this company?
Twelve
and a half years ago, the Chamber and MMI had a business after-hours
open house. As I was going through the tour, I was going, "I've got to
work here." I'm such a foodie, and I'm fascinated with the reason people
buy things. Along the way, I would apply for a job here from time to
time. Maybe twice in 12 years. But the turnover here is really low.
You learned about your layoff at jobing.com on Facebook. What was that like?
Our
headquarters was in Phoenix. An employee in Phoenix thought my meeting
had already happened and that I'd already been laid off. She sent me a
lovely note wishing me well. The lesson is, social media is fast and the
company wasn't communicating properly.
What did you do after you got laid off?
My
general advice to jobseekers was to take a week, sit and cry, sit in
the middle of the floor with a gallon of ice cream, do whatever you have
to do. I needed a break, so I did take about a month off. I went and
rekindled relations with my husband who (it seemed) I hadn't seen in
four years. I tubed the Comal River. I went and visited some family.
How did you start your search?
I
didn't quit anything. I sat on three boards and four or five committees
at the time. I found some more committees to get on. I did some
volunteer work. I was able to negotiate with one association, Fort Worth
HR, where if you are a member in good standing and become in
transition, your next year's dues are waived. My dues were waived for
2011. I continued to go to my networking groups. I went to MAGiC (a
marketing and communications networking group run by the Fort Worth
Career Search Network). I created my jobseeker business card.
Did you sit behind a computer and fire out resumes into Monster.com?
Even
though I was with a job board, I would tell jobseekers: "Do not sit
behind a computer all day and stay on Jobing, CareerBuilder, Monster or
whatever. You'll go stir crazy. You have got to get out." I filled my
days with what normal activity would have been for me, minus the job
part. I made sure I was going somewhere every day.
So how'd this opportunity here come up?
Through
a friend. He said, "I've got an opening I think would be perfect for
you." I'm like, "Yeah, send it over." I opened it up, it was Marketing
Management Inc., and it was for business development, which is what I
knew I wanted to go into. I turned to my husband and said, "You're not
going to believe this."
What was the process?
I
interviewed in March. I was the first interview, and they interviewed
several other people. And then in April, we were asked to make a formal
sales presentation to the decision makers. They made the offer in May.
What did you do to follow up with the company after the first interview?
I
sent my handwritten "thank you" note. A week or so later, I invited
them to be on Linkedin (an online networking site). Then I started
following them on Twitter. I kept dropping little hints along the way. I
honestly don't know if they connected the two, but in my mind, they
did.
How do you sense the job market is going now?
I'm
hearing a lot more activity from jobseekers. They're getting a lot more
leads. When I took my donuts to MAGiC after I landed, there were four
other dozen donuts. (Under job networking etiquette, jobseekers are
supposed to bring a dozen donuts to their group after they land a job.)
It tells me a lot of people are landing. We're hiring here. We're
looking for a graphic artist and prepress person.
Scott Nishimura, 817-390-7808

That bitter taste of 2006 has been replaced with such a sweet taste of 2011. We are rowdy, loud and proud supporters here and the Mavs have had us on the edge of our seats all season. One of our biggest fans is our video producer extraordinaire Erik Clapp. Erik decided to make a bet (with himself, weird we know) that if the Mavs were to win the title he would shave his head. We don't think Erik has had a haircut for a year, so this should be fun!! The lucky locks are coming off Thursday by noon, we will have some great footage, what a fun way to celebrate!!! We thought we would bring back some Dirkzilla taking it to the 3 headed monster Miami Heat. Enjoy.

One was the improved quality and testing of the products. So with vast improvements in this department, how do you communicate it to the consumer, give you packaging a face lift to communicate this improvement. For example, Giant Food's recently updated their private label design. Giant VP sales and merchandising Jeff Beaulieu said, "we are changing our packaging to this great new look for all of our Giant and Martin's own-brand products to signal that we have improved the quality of our products." Shall we say more? If you are looking for a packaging design refresh, lets get in touch so we can create that perfect attention grabbing, brand powerful look for your products.*quote sourced from Drug Store News Article: http://drugstorenews.com/article/giant-foods-private-label-products-get-new-design

We came across this article about one of our clients and we are happy to hear that Food Lion's Lotsa' Noodles beat out Campbell's condensed Chicken Noodle Soup in a blind taste test. Private Brand products have been making a big surge in recent years. There are many factors that contribute to this growth, but no doubt one of the biggest is the quality of these products. We are fortunate to help our clients communicate that quality through creative label designs and food photography that will make your mouth water. If you need products tested, labels designed, food photography, or brand development; give us a shout as we would love to help. We negotiated a way for them to be apart of the action for the opening weekend of Fast 5 at an Arlington movie theater. Firestone was able to set up a display booth in the lobby that featured great products and equally great offers for movie goers. Not only were they able to set up a booth but take advantage of the theater's advertising space. FAST FACT: Fast 5 had over 80 million in ticket sales and the AMC Parks Mall was sold out of the show Friday-Sunday. We are glad to say that this strategic initiative was very successful!

I mean come on, we are an advertising agency full of creative people needing to get out, explore, have a little fun and get inspired and motivate by others. Asics is jumping into the minimalist running scene with some new shoes; the 33 by Asics. We liked this video because it shows how when you give creative people no boundaries and a clear message, you can have quite a bit of fun! I love my iPhone and all of the apps, and Shazam is one of my favorites. I primarily use it to see what song is playing on the radio, but now I see it on TV shows & commercials directing me to additional content. Pretty Slick! This isn't the first time I have seen it (OLD NAVY commercial featuring Nelly Furtado) so I guess this is why it caught my attention. I have only seen this trend recently. Like a QRcode/2Dcode for your ears. Listen and we will take you somewhere else. I am excited to see if this progresses any further and to see if it transfers over to different mediums (radio, in-store shopping, events, etc.). Here is a couple screen shots taken after Shazam-ing Royal Pains. Let me know if you have seen/heard this anywhere else!FacebookTwitter

So once a week we will try to introduce you to someone on our team and some of the things they enjoy while not chained to their desk. We promise to keep it as only a glimpse and not a biography of any kind... first up, Erin Collis. She is a talented actress that you can see performing throughout the DFW area, and her next big feature is as Eva Pike the Fishmonger at the Scarborough Renaissance Festival. She has done this for several years and is excited about this year! The festival is going on April 9 - May 30 in Waxahachie and we hope you make it out to enjoy this beautiful weather and support such a fun event! I know we can't wait to get outside. But instead of slamming a few Stella’s every night or sounding the studio’s emergency “bat signal”, we Immotion employees handle stress by having interests outside of our jobs. For example, I’ve been taking photography classes at TCU. I love continuing my education especially when it has to do with learning more about something I’m passionate about. I take pictures everyday, both here at Immotion and as a hobby. But the more I learn, the more I understand my camera and what I can do with it. This is what will help me grow as a photographer and continue creating high quality photographs. Great fun, and actually learning stuff, what more could you ask for... Well, maybe the Stella at our next group outing might be ok.Blog and Photos by Patti Nelson Bandy

We don't mean to brag, but we talk about it all of the time around here, we just have a very special chemistry and I think it shows in our work and our hanging out when the office building closes. We are also a very competitive group. Immotion Studios is where strategy powers creative brilliance, so what better way to have a competitive rivalry than with Team Creative vs Team Strategy. We took an after work road trip over to Dallas to play a little WhirlyBall. This game is a blast so if you are looking for a fun group activity you will definitely need to check it out! There was a little smack talk, some game faces and game plans; but who do you think won? That's right baby, STRATEGY!!!!Now we are needing another competitive team building activity so Creative can try and even the score. Do you have any ideas? Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter. You can see all of the fun here too!

Where will 2D Barcodes Take Us?

My sister loves her coupons. She has the big folder, with all the products she will be shopping for listed in alphabetical order, constantly clipping and saving. We all know someone like her, I mean, they actually have a show on basic cable for extreme couponing, or something like that now. Shopping with her can be a challenge sometimes too. We get to the store, she knows she had a coupon, but when we get to the register she forgot to bring it, or it has expired. Imagine not having to worry about that anymore. Now we can image. More and more we see these funky square barcodes (QR Code) on labels, in magazines, on business cards, and even on billboards. Check out this one pictured on a giant billboard in Japan (photo courtesy of a Wikipedia contributor). Now with your smart phone, and the proper app, you just take a picture and it’ll take you directly to the manufacturer's website. Imagine being at the grocery store, no giant binder to lug around, and still you get all of your favorite coupons, and they aren’t expired, pretty awesome! You can even take a picture and get your entire Private Label shopping list for a recipe that you found on a mashed potato box (check with Immotion Studios on how you can do that for your brand). Next time you’re at the store, look for these 2D barcodes and see where they take you. Yes, and if you see this billboard next time you’re in Japan, try it! It might just take you somewhere exciting... or at the very least interesting! It’s new technology, but I can’t wait to see how people use these! Maybe next I am I’m at the movie theater one will pop up and I can scan it from my seat and get a free popcorn with my cell phone at intermission, how cool would that be! entry by Patti Nelson Bandy

Well, if you are part of our video team, armed with a camera and can't make it in, it's time to get out and capture the beauty of it all. It's awful pretty when you aren't outside experiencing how cold it actually was!

I mean, who wouldn’t want to know how fabulous we are, right! It was an awesome experience last Friday working with our “customers”, and the video production team! The video was shot in the Immotion Studio’s studio and everyone was there. Rebecca was great to work with and Mitch has become a great friend to all of us. With direction from Erik, and helpful tips from Lindsey, shooting was a breeze. Erik even had some stretching tips for Mitch before shooting began. Overall, it’s pretty exciting times around here. So stay tuned for the Immotion Studios self-promotion video, coming soon! Entry and Photos by Patti Nelson Bandymore photos on our flickr page

We have an executive dining room that everyday we have thought... "that could be one heck of a workspace!" And you know what, we are making it happen! The dining room is now changing into the Senior Think Tank, in memory of our founder Herb Pease Sr. We are looking forward to the room as it will have so many practical purposes for us... and who knows, maybe we will even install a mini-bar for some after work social events. Look forward to inviting everyone over!

Our goal was to create a miniature of a monitor and have the home and secondary pages displayed. Below is a pic of the final product, pretty handy I think. If you have any questions as to how we did it send us an email, would be glad to show you the steps.

Telluride, Colorado. Gregory tours the country making money on the
streets while displaying the talents of his three animals. He is a man
of peace and his message is that if these animals can live and work
together in peace, then why can't we? Erik met Gregory in downtown Fort Worth while shooting pictures on his lunch
break. Then he discovered his three friends, Booger, Kitty, and Mousy. Gregory allowed Erik to
follow them during his lunch break and the video speaks for itself, looks like they had a great time!

Our Photography Studio has been packed these past 3 weeks!

We have had some great projects roll through here recently. Something that we have been able to roll through pretty quick is some standard product web photography for the Target private brands Archer Farms and Market Pantry. The shoot has gone great, have shot a hundred plus items and look forward to donating the product to our local food bank. Another project that has been fun has been for the new AWG Premium private brands food line. We have total artistic freedom here creating the label concepts heavily focused on photography. We wanted to show the quality of the product, be dramatic with some elements, and really bring the scene and food to life. I hope these shots don’t make you too hungry, I know they left our mouths watering! The final project we have been working on has been 19 flavors of Ice Cream for another one of our accounts. Ice Cream can be a tough thing to shoot, but I think it’s safe to say after 19 flavors and having done several ice cream shoots in the past, we knocked this one out of the park. Because of the mass amounts some are still in post-photography production but hope to have another post and some pics up soon. And don’t worry, all the extra ice cream was gladly taken to some happy homes after the shoot!

Love a great idea when we see one

Now we are in the business of brand development and advertising and always have our eyes out for a great idea when we see one. Now the creator of this site is a genius! Have an auction site where everyone has to bid on stuff. No big deal right? The brilliance is in the details. Let’s do an example. Auction off great stuff, charge $1 for a bid and make that bid look like a penny for the product. So an iPad is up, pretty sweet huh!? Well it was won for $135.12. Now that’s cheap!! Wait a minute, that means there were 13,512, $1 bids. See where I’m going with this... Brilliant. So if you win, maybe you bid 100 times ($100) and got a great deal, the seller is stoked because everyone chipped in and paid $13,512 for something that cost $499. Well what about all the bidders that didn’t win, they get redeemable points in the online store and can use them to buy the stuff they lost out on. They make you feel like there are no real losers here. You get "free" bids with mass quantity purchases and to encourage you to invite more people to join they offer you free bids, etc. I love it, this person was definitely eating their Wheaties for breakfast... So how can you take an unbelievably successful site like Ebay, push it further, and in just a slightly different direction? You can see it here

Well, that and we had something to celebrate, our Web Director/Designer is getting hitched! For a lot of the group it was the first time getting to meet his soon to be better half, so that was fun getting to know her and ask a lot of embarrassing questions... Of course we had to have some fun with the new iPhone 4 and all its splendor and you can see a fun pic below. We had some friendly dart games which soon led into what jobs have you not worked which was quite entertaining, may actually need to be a separate post all together. Also found out a random fact. We have a designer that was born on April Fools Day. Now I know that doesn’t seem like a big deal, that is until you find out his 2 brothers were also born on holidays. So we have one on St. Patty’s Day, One on April Fools Day, and the last on May Day (this is a holiday right!?) So 3 months in a row, 3 holidays, random did you know of Immotion Studios. All in all, was a great work week, a great weekend, and now back to the strategy powering creative brilliance!

Yep you read that right, the teen chef is Immotion Studios’ newest Intern. Let me expand for a moment on this topic:As a new intern for Immotion Studios, I’m gaining valuable experience for my future. Experience that includes assisting in the quality control department, assisting with food styling and photography, assisting in the Creative Dep., and of course the typical intern agenda: filing. No lies though I’m pretty pumped to have this opportunity (despite the filing lol). Now onto the good stuff: Since I’m a guest (and the guest is always right, right?. . . let’s say yes) I’m going to take the liberty of supplying all you readers with a recipe. A darn good recipe actually (It’ll put that “Fresh show” to shame. . . ) Here we go kiddies. . . “Fresh” Muffins: (nothin like ‘em.. . . of course there’s nothing like basketball documentaries either. . . )Cinnamon Swirl Muffins (from Family Fun Magazine) Oven: 350For the Batter:2 cups all-purpose flour2 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon baking soda¼ teaspoon salt½ cup butter, melted½ cup sugar2 eggs½ cup milk, buttermilk, or diluted evaporated milk (basically whatever milk you got on hand)For the Cinnamon Swirl:½ cup packed brown sugar (light or dark- doesn’t matter)4 tablespoons butter, cut into small chunks¼ cup flour2 teaspoons cinnamonMix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a small mixing bowl and set aside.Melt butter in a bowl, then mix in sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla. In another bowl (yes I’m sorry, another one), mix together the Cinnamon Swirl ingredients- I cut them together with a fork (kinda formed a paste for me)Mix together the flour and butter mixtures until the flour is completely mixed in, then stir in the Cinnamon Swirl mixture, until it’s mixed in but still “swirly”. Basically you don’t want huge chunks of the cinnamon mix cuz it’ll just melt when you bake them, and will form holes (not attractive).Bake at 350 until the tops look set and dry and slightly golden, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. I made mini muffins, they took about 9-10 minutes.Enjoy! The Teen Chef notesofateenagechef.blogspot.com
